MUMBAI: A jawan of the Indian Army from Nashik district of Maharashtra has died while trying to save his colleagues who had fallen into a river along the India- China border in the Galwan valley, minister of state for home Satej Patil said on Thursday. The jawan, Sachin More, was a native of Malegaon in Nashik district, around 200km from here, he said. Sachin More, who hailed from Malegaon tehsil, was posted on the India-China border. NEW DELHI: Domestic pharma giant Hetero has started delivering the generic version of 20,000 vials of Covifor (Remdesivir) across the country. The product is priced at Rs 5,400/- per vial. On June 13, ANI had reported that the top drug regulator granted permission to Hetero and another pharmaceutical firm for marketing authorization of anti-viral drug Remdesivir only for "restricted emergency use" on hospitalized COVID-19 patients with moderate disease (those on oxygen). NEW DELHI: The Sports Authority of India (SAI) may soon appoint differently-abled coaches to work with hearing and speech impaired athletes after sports minister Kiren Rijiju "agreed in principle" to the recommendation of All India Sports Council for Deaf (AISCFD). In a virtual meeting with the sports minister, which was also attended by 16 other National Sports Federations (NSFs), the AISCFD on Thursday highlighted the need for differently-abled coaches for its athletes for clear communication. PARIS: Peugeot maker PSA's boss Carlos Tavares said on Thursday he was confident the merger of the French carmaker and Fiat Chrysler (FCA) would go ahead as planned and yield synergies of at least 3.7 billion euros ($4.2 billion). SRINAGAR: Pakistani troops on Thursday violated ceasefire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Macchil sector of Jammu and Kashmir by firing mortar shells towards Indian positions, Army officials said here. They said the Indian Army gave a befitting response to the ceasefire violation. No casualties were reported in the incident. "On 25 June 2020, Pakistan initiated an unprovoked ceasefire violation (CFV) along the LoC in Macchil sector by firing mortars," the officials said. KOLKATA: The Indian Navy's amphibious transport dock INS Jalashwa reached the port of Bandar Abbas in Iran to bring back Indian nationals stranded there. This is part of Operation Samudra Setu launched by the Government of India to bring back citizens stranded in other countries after travel restrictions were imposed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. Over the last three-odd months, INS Jalashwa along with other amphibious warships of the Navy have been travelling to several countries as part of this operation. SUKMA: A group of Naxals set on fire six vehicles and machines engaged in road construction work in the insurgency-hit Sukma district of Chhattisgarh, police said on Thursday. The incident took place on Wednesday night at Dhanikorta village under Kukanar police station limits where a road is being constructed, Sukma Superintendent of Police Shalabh Sinha said. The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has made the submission in an affidavit filed in the high court in response to the petition by One97 Communications Ltd, which runs Paytm. The matter was taken up by a bench of Chief Justice D N Patel and Justice Prateek Jalan which said the affidavit was not on record.
