Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones to launch in India next month

Sony is gearing up to launch one of its most advanced headphones– WH-1000XM4– in India in September. It’s the successor to the WH-1000XM3 and comes with new smart features and better noise cancellation. The WH-1000XM4 is priced at $349.99 in the US which translates to Rs 26,200 in India. However, we will have to wait for the official price in India.
The Sony WH-1000XM4 headphones come with two microphones on each earcup. Dual Noise Sensor technology captures ambient noise and passes the data to the HD Noise Canceling Processor QN1. There’s a new Bluetooth Audio chip that senses music and noise at over 700 times per second. Using a new algorithm, the HD Noise Canceling Processor QN1 applies noise canceling processing in real time
As for audio quality, the headphone uses Edge-AI, to analyse music in real time and recognise instruments, music genres and individual elements of each song to restore the high range sounds for a richer, more complete listening experience. To build this AI system, Sony worked with Sony Music Studios Tokyo to gather data and insights on how specific music signals are composed. Sony WH-1000XM4 also comes with 360 Reality Audio which works with Android or iPhone over supported music streaming apps.
A new ‘Speak-to-Chat’ feature enables users to have short conversations without taking off their headphones. By simply saying something, the headphones will recognise the user’s voice and automatically stop the music to let in ambient sound so they can conduct a conversation. The music automatically starts playing again 30 seconds after they’ve stopped speaking.
Also, there’s a ‘Quick Attention’ mode that makes it easy to tune in for an announcement or say something briefly by simply placing the right hand over the earcup to decrease the volume and let in ambient sound.
The headphones detect whether they are being worn and adapt playback accordingly to help save battery power. Using the headphone’s proximity sensor and two acceleration sensors, the headphones automatically stop the music when removed and resume playing when put back on.
The WH-1000XM4 features new Precise Voice Pickup technology, which controls five microphones in the headphones optimally, and performs advanced audio signal processing to pick up voice clearly for hands-free calls.
