SRINAGAR: Top Hizbul Mujahideen commander Masood Ahmad Bhat of J&K’s Doda district was killed along with two other Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Monday. With the killing of Masood, who was the “last-surviving terrorist” in Doda, the district is now terrorist-free, J&K DGP Dilbagh Singh said. Early on Monday, a joint team of Army’s 19 Rashtriya Rifles, CRPF and J&K Police launched a cordon-and-search operation in Anantnag’s Runipora Khull Khulchohar area based on intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists there, IGP (Kashmir Range) Vijay Kumar said. BARAMULLA ( JAMMU AND KASHMIR): Security forces on Wednesday apprehended 4 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist associates in Sopore, following a search operation in Pothka Muqam and Chanpora Athoora. "Sopore Police along with 52 Rashtriya Rifles and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) launched cordon and search operations (CASOs) simultaneously in Pothka Muqam and Chanpora Athoora and apprehended 4 Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist associates," said Jammu and Kashmir Police. JAMMU: Security forces have busted a terrorist hideout in a remote village in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir and recovered a universal machine gun along with 222 rounds of ammunition, a senior police officer said on Tuesday. The hideout was unearthed during a joint search operation by troops of 16 Rashtriya Rifles and the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the police at Murrah village in the Surankote area, Senior Superintendent of Police, Poonch, Ramesh Angral told PTI. He said the search operation was launched Monday on a tip-off about the presence of a hideout in the hilly village. However, no one was arrested during the operation, the officer said.
