CHENNAI: S Sreesanth’s ban will end in September this year and the former medium-pacer is likely to play for Kerala — his state team — in the domestic season. Even Sreesanth makes his entry into the Kerala team, Sandeep Warrier — one of the regular members in the side — is moving to Tamil Nadu. However, Warrier wants Sreesanth to have a memorable comeback.
“I hope that will be one of the best comebacks that cricket has even seen. And I know it will be one of the best comebacks that cricket has ever seen because of his determination and skill level,” Warrier said during the chat show Homerun with AV with sports commentator Arun Venugopal on his YouTube channel Gethist Creative.
Since his debut for Kerala during the 2012 season, Warrier has grown in stature as one of the go-to bowlers for the side. From 57 first-class outings, the 29-year-old has 186 scalps at an impressive average of 24.43. Warrier concedes that he will miss his Kerala teammates’ ‘never-say-no-attitude.’
“I’ll miss everything about it because each and everyone in the team is hardworking. The thing is when you’re with them for the four or five months of the season, you can call them at any time and they’ll come. If you want to go out for a movie or if you’re feeling down, if you want to go out to the beach for a run, whatever time you call Sanju or Azhar or Vinoop, 5’o clock or 5.30 even they’ll be ready to go anywhere. Even the juniors… Last time in between matches when we had a break, at 8-8.30 and all I’ve called juniors like Sijomon if I want to go out for a 10 o’clock movie, I’ve never heard any of them say no. The never-say-no attitude is something I’ll miss,” Warrier revealed.
